Michael A. Tompkins, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist, a founding partner of the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy, and assistant clinical professor at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Tompkins specializes in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders that includes hoarding disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He is the author of six books, including Digging Out: Helping Your Loved One Manage Cutter, Hoarding, and Compulsive Acquiring (with Tamara L. Hartl) (New Harbinger, 2009) and OCD: A Guide for the Newly Diagnosed (New Harbinger, 2012). Dr. Tompkins has presented nationally on cognitive-behavior therapy and hoarding.
