Richard LeGates

Professor emeritus, Department of Urban Studies and Planning
I semi-retired after 35 years teaching in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at San Francisco State University in 2005 and fully retired in 2010. Since 2005 I have been lecturing frequently in China (Tongji University, Renmin University, elsewhere), the Universities of Leister and Dundee in the UK (2007), Charles University in the Czech Republic (2008), the American University of Sharjah (2010) and Institut Teknologi Bandung ITB (2012). My co-edited anthology, The City Reader, is now in its 5th edition. I have two co-edited book manuscripts at the printers: The Chinese City Reader which will be published in Chinese by China Architecture and Building Press and Coordinated Urban-Rural Development in Chengdu, China, which will be published by Edward Elgar Press. My paper, co-authored with Delik Hudulah at ITB draws on my recent research on peri-urban planning in China and Indonesia.
