Ph.D. in Urban Geography and Urban Planning (University of Michigan); M.A. and B.A. degrees from University of Texas-Arlington. Began academic career at Indiana University, attained tenure as faculty member at Cornell, served as department chair at SUNY-Albany (Geography/Planning), and graduate program director and full professor at University of Delaware. Recipient of Best Paper awards from UAA and American Planning Association. Chair of UAA Governing Board, 1994-1996.
